Man Utd set to free player who received ‘healing’ at TB Joshua’s church

Premier League club Manchester United may let go of Angel Gomes after contract talks stalled between the two parties.

The 19-year-old highly-rated player has only played three times for United three times this season. His contract with the club expires at the end of June.

The youngster is expected to leave United as a free agent and it is understood that he is wanted by a host of Premier League sides including Chelsea.

“I’ve not heard from them last night or this morning, it seems like they haven’t managed to agree,” Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer said when asked if Gomes will leave the club this week.

“The answer is probably short and ‘yes’, then.”

Gomes trended in Nigeria in May after a video of him being “healed” of his battles with injuries that threatened his career at a popular Lagos church went viral. The video was recorded in 2016.

“I am from a Christian family at the time my mum was a fan of the pastor, and she really wanted me to go,” Gomes said, defending his visit to the church. “I was going through some issues. From the outside looking in it looks crazy, but I was just practicing (sic) my faith.”

‘I didn’t really need to explain myself but a lot of people was asking me what the video was about.

‘I was young at the time and if my parents thought something was best for me I would do it. ‘There are far more important issues out there in the world we can tackle. For example #FreeSchoolMeals #maketheUturn.’

Synagogue Church of All Nations is led by controversial Pastor TB Joshua. His church has hosted by popular figures including presidents of African countries and footballers such as former Nigerian international and coach Daniel Amokachi.

Amokachi, unlike Gomes, said he received no healing at the church despite sleeping at the church for “weeks”.
