Election: INEC cancels 8 polling units in Zamfara

The Zamfara State wing of the Independent National Electorate Commission, INEC has cancelled eight polling units in Gusau, Zamfara State capital due to insecurity reason in the State.

Reliable information gathered by DAILY POST revealed that one of the eight polling units cancelled included GRA No 012 where the PDP governorship candidate of the state cast his vote with his first wife.

It was gathered that after the governorship candidate of PDP cast his vote, political thugs invaded the polling unit where it was discovered that all the voting materials were destroyed by the suspects.

But Dauda Lawal Dare, the PDP governorship candidate in the State has not made any official statement regarding the issue, saying that the matter was the responsibility of the INEC and the security operatives in the state.

“We are not supposed to make any political statement until both the INEC and the security operatives in the State take decisions”, he added.


“But whatever happens in their decisions, PDP in the State will not accept any contrary decision contrary to our laid down policy”, he added.

It was also reported that there are other polling units that were affected by the cancellation by the State INEC due to electoral violence which this medium can authoritatively state that no date has been announced for voting.

Unit 018, Angwan roba, 057 in commissioner’s quarters, JNI, 043, Maisoda, 064, GRA, 012 where the governorship candidate of the PDP cast his vote and many polling units under Galadima ward were also cancelled.

However, DAILY POST reports that at the Dankande polling unit in Bakura Local Government Area there was no voting.

However, it was not clear from the INEC authority whether the elections will continue due to the late arrival of election materials to the state or whether it will be cancelled finally due to insecurity in the state.
