Real Madrid coach: I like this Barcelona because it has an identity

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the media outlets at a press conference to discuss the Spanish Super Cup semi-final, in which ‘Los Blancos’ will face Barcelona on Wednesday.

This Wednesday, Barcelona and Real Madrid meet in the second ‘El Clasico’ of the season. Both clubs will be looking for a place in the final of the Spanish Super Cup, which will be played against Atletico Madrid or Athletic, the protagonists of the other match.

As usual, ‘Los Blancos’ coach Carlo Ancelotti took to the press room to analyse the eternal rivals ahead of Wednesday’s clash. “The team is coming into the competition well, with all the enthusiasm and attitude we need to bring home this first title of the season. We would like to take it home,” he said.

“Failure if we lose? With one game anything can happen. In the match there must be a winner and we must play it knowing that the opponent is strong and has had more problems this season than us,” he continued.

On the possible starting XI, the Italian commented: “I have some doubts, such as Carvajal, who is coming back from injury. We have to evaluate other players that I have fresh that can be used, like Rodrygo for Asensio. As for the rest, the other players are pretty good.

“Barca is a team in which the veterans like Pique, Alba or Busquets always perform well and help the youngsters who push from the back like Gavi or Nico,” he continued.

On the points difference with Barca in La Liga, Ancelotti added: “I don’t agree with those differences, they don’t count. It’s a Super Cup semi-final”.

“I like this Barca because it’s a team that has an identity, in the same vein as Barca always have. I think it’s a team that is going to improve with their contribution,” he said.

To finish his intervention in front of the media outlet, ‘Carletto’ highlighted the great and quick adaptation of Alaba to Spanish football to be Militao’s partner and assured that he would be “worried if his players saw themselves as favourites for the clash”.
