By Ichema Ajonye
The Lord has set aside this nation (Nigeria) for a great purpose in His end time moves among the nations of the earth.
Like a choice portion, this nation (Nigeria) has been set apart, a mystery unknown throughout the ages, but is now being revealed to anointed ones of today, that God will use this nation like the ark of Noah in these last days, to be a bulwark of salvation, a tower of refuge and an unrestrained frontier of the gospel message to the billions of souls in captivity before the close of the age.
STATE OF THE NATION
In entering into its prophetic alignment as a Divine Platform of end time revival, the nation must of necessity enter into the working of God’s grace upon it, as manifested in the usual pattern of divine outworking upon the vessels of grace, whether individually, or collectively as a nation.
To understand the nation’s current travails from the perspective of divine machinations, we shall turn to the scriptures:
Isaiah 19 gives a glimpse of the nation in its divine crucible. Indeed, we shall come to understand as we proceed in this series, that several hidden mysteries of God concerning this nation will be unraveled as we study God’s relationship with biblical Egypt throughout the scriptural age. Isaiah 19 reads thus:
1 ¶ The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.
2 And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.
3 And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.
4 And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.
5 And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up.
6 And they shall turn the rivers far away; and the brooks of defence shall be emptied and dried up: the reeds and flags shall wither.
7 The paper reeds by the brooks, by the mouth of the brooks, and every thing sown by the brooks, shall wither, be driven away, and be no more.
8 The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that cast angle into the brooks shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish.
9 Moreover they that work in fine flax, and they that weave networks, shall be confounded.
10 And they shall be broken in the purposes thereof, all that make sluices and ponds for fish.
11 Surely the princes of Zoan are fools, the counsel of the wise counsellors of Pharaoh is become brutish: how say ye unto Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?
12 Where are they? where are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.
13 The princes of Zoan are become fools, the princes of Noph are deceived; they have also seduced Egypt, even they that are the stay of the tribes thereof.
14 The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.
15 Neither shall there be any work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or rush, may do.
16 In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it.
17 And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.
18 ¶ In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.
19 In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD.
20 And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.
21 And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the LORD, and perform it.
22 And the LORD shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it: and they shall return even to the LORD, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall heal them.
23 In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians.
24 In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land:
25 Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance (KJV).
The above chapter clearly reveals in prophetic language, the situation of Nigeria today, and provides pointers to its near future and its prophetic destiny.
We shall look into each verse and pray the Holy Spirit unveils the message to our understanding today.
Isa 19:1
The word about Egypt. … (BBE)
King James Version says…The burden of Egypt…
and it is a burden…upon the land, its people and its destiny.
Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.
Amen!!…
He rideth upon a swift cloud because it is the hour of judgment…it is the day of divine reckoning upon the inhabitants of the earth. This is the hour of judgment! Little wonder, the idols of Egypt will tremble! They -territorial spirits- of Nigeria must tremble because the God of the universe is coming upon this strategic site to begin His end time moves among His people. God is rising up to shake the territorial gods of this nation…He will upturn the dynamics of power and cast down the age -long demonic strongholds of power and the establishment of darkness…no wonder, the ruling spirits over the nation will be paralyzed with fear.
2 And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight everyone against his brother, and everyone against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom…
How true! This nation today is in a state of turmoil…though technically, we are not at war with any nation, and the civil war officially ended several decades ago, yet each day keeps witnessing internecine strife and thousands of lives and properties are destroyed. Nigeria is a nation built without the consensus of its constituent peoples, as such, unity has remained fragile. We are a nation; it seems, only in name and on paper.
Each ethnic group looks out for its own interests…religious bigotry, tribalism; nepotism and corruption are the order of the day. We are a nation dangerously tethering on the precipice of a bloody disintegration.
3 And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards. KJV
And the spirit of Egypt shall fail…and I will make her decisions without effect…
How totally apt, a prophetic description of our present state of affairs. Nigeria is virtually a failed state today…governance has been rendered virtually ineffective… Lawlessness is growing by the day and some Islamic terrorists in the North East are literarily gripping the government by the testicles today as we speak.
and they will be turning to the false gods, and to those who make hollow sounds, and to those who have control of spirits, and to those who are wise in secret arts.. BBE
and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards. KJV
It is an open secret that cultism, occult brotherhoods and satanic covenants of all sorts often holds the key to political and social advancement in almost every facet of our national life today. People swear oaths and indulge in all sorts of fetishes to get jobs, contracts, maintain loyalty and support…
Meritocracy has been dumped in the trash…Today; it’s all about diabolic connections if you want to ‘make it’.
The center of our national consciousness has been grossly twisted… Evil is celebrated; the good have to bury their heads in shame as we continue to celebrate the obscene as a way of life and tradition. Human authorities in position of power in Nigeria today are more or less human stooges of demonic overlords. No wonder our counsels as a nation and collective national decisions have sadly led us nowhere. No wonder we have failed.
4 And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.
This is self-explanatory. Dark satanic forces have come to entrench themselves in the affairs of this nation through the agency of spineless human stooges who merely do their satanic biddings. Most so-called leaders in Nigeria today are men and women in evil covenants through conscience-deadening ritual acts, with the prince of darkness. And they are inescapably bound by diabolic oaths to carry out the will of the devil with the sole purpose to thwart the plans of God for the nation. They are known before the courts of heaven as the establishment of darkness. Their evil stranglehold upon the nation is indisputable. The crass visionless and wanton insensitivities being displayed by various Nigerian leaders today at all levels of governance are only a consequence of the devil’s strangle-hold upon their faculties and sense of humanity.
Verses 5-17 speak of the results of corrupt and inept leadership.
5 And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up. 6 And they shall turn the rivers far away; and the brooks of defence shall be emptied and dried up: the reeds and flags shall wither.
And the waters shall fail from the sea …yes our ‘waters’, the source of our national sustenance, our oil wealth from the sea shores failed us…the rivers of our national wealth, both human and material resources have been …wasted and dried up…!!!
Nigeria is a heart-rending phenomenon of monumental waste! So much poverty in the midst of plenty… And why is it so? It is because the leaders, the heartless, devilish and corrupt men at the helm of affairs of the nation …shall turn the rivers far away; and the brooks of defence shall be emptied and dried up:… how sad!…the wealth of the nation shall be turned far away…it does not get to the masses!, the so called leaders merely sit down each month to allocate the lion share of the nation’s resources to themselves, leaving only a pittance for human development…scandalously allocating jumbo share of the nation’s entire wealth for the sustenance of less than 1% of the population of the nation… neither are they saving for a rainy day as even the brooks of defence shall be emptied and dried up.! Should our oil wealth dry up today, there is nothing on ground to fall back to. No ‘brook of defense’ to shore us up. We have an abundance of non-oil wealth, but that has been insensibly neglected. Nobody stops to think of the future generation. Our selfish leaders are only concerned about their own belly. The common man will continue to suffer…indeed, as the scripture points out, the reeds and flags shall wither…
5 The waters of the river will dry up, and the riverbed will be perched and dry.
6 The canals will stink; the streams of Egypt will dwindle and dry up. The reeds and rushes will wither,7 also the plants along the Nile, at the mouth of the river. Every sown field along the Nile
will become perched, will blow away and be no more.
8 The fishermen will groan and lament, all who cast hooks into the Nile; those who throw nets on the water will pine away.
9 Those who work with combed flax will desire, the weavers of fine linen will lose hope.
10 The workers in cloth will be dejected, and all the wage earners will be sick at heart.
NIV
The above verses are a sober reflection and a grim testimony to the deplorable state of our national economy. Deplorable education system, closed factories, moribund industries, obsolete agricultural output, high unemployment, epileptic power supply, poor transportation network, deplorable health and education systems, you name it, not to mention insecurity and Islamic terrorism. Many state civil servants have gone for many months of unpaid salaries…indeed, and all the wage earners will be sick at heart. (NIV)
KJV
Surely the princes of Zoan are fools, this is the only inevitable conclusion one can arrive at, looking at the present state of the nation. When a problem is clearly defined and all resources, human and material, are available to solve such an urgent problem, and you opt to do something totally different, or remain and act clueless, doing nothing or worse, even aggravating the problem, is that not foolishness?
Virtually every national policy has turned out to be ‘foolishness’ on the part of our leaders. Rather than face the problem squarely, they would prefer to bury their corrupt heads in the sand and play the ostrich. We are ranked today high among the most corrupt nations on earth. No thanks to leadership failure. In very deed, the counsel of the wise counsellors of Pharaoh is become brutish: … yes, the way of brutes!
13 The princes of Zoan are become fools, the princes of Noph are deceived; they have also seduced Egypt, even they that are the stay of the tribes thereof.
Every institution of leadership in the country is guilty.
Yes! From the federal government to the state government, right up to the traditional rulers and every regional and ethnocentric institutions…the stay of the tribes thereof, the tribal seducers, be it Afenifere, Arewa Consultative Forum, or Ohaneze Ndigbo, there is but one resounding verdict for the entire leadership institution of Nigeria: GUILTY.
The leaders of Zoan and Memphis are fools. They were supposed to lead the nation, but they have misled it. The Lord has made them give confusing advice. As a result, Egypt does everything wrong and staggers like a drunk slipping on his own vomit. No one in Egypt, rich or poor, important or unknown, can offer help. Isa 19:13-15. TEV
Again, another cutting and incisive insight into the current affairs of the nation. A casual glance at the national life today shows indeed that Nigeria …does everything wrong and stagers like a drunk slipping on his own vomit. !!!!
See the same verse from another bible translation:
14 God has scrambled their brains, Egypt’s become a falling-down-in-his-own-vomit drunk.
15 Egypt’s hopeless, past helping, a senile, doddering old fool.
THE MESSAGE
What a chilling, yet accurate prophetic description of Nigeria today, more than half a century after Independence, Nigeria is a ‘doddering fool’, still in pampers, crawling in dirt, rolling in her vomit and building sand castles!
Further, verse 15 ends with a sobering conclusion:
Neither can any work [done singly or by concerted action] accomplish anything for Egypt, whether by head or tail, palm branch or rush [high or low]. AMP
No one in Egypt can do a thing, no matter who they are. CEV
Egypt cannot be saved by anything or anybody-no one can show her the way. TLB
And why so? Simply because it does not belong to the present crop of leaders at the helm of affairs of the nation to understand the mysteries of God concerning the nation.
Meanwhile, God has asked;
Where are your wise counselors, Pharaoh? Let them tell you what God plans, what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies is going to do to Egypt. NLT
Yes, the God of heavens has a unique plan for Nigeria, a special purpose, a unique destiny, which the current crops of leaders are not aware, and can never know. It is not in them to know!
But it is not all a message of hopelessness, because in this morass of confusion, the outworking power of God is seen so there is hope in the proceeding verses:
In that day… During those days of hopelessness and national decay, when the nation totters at the brink of bloody disintegration,
shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD. Amen!!!
An altar is a platform of sacrificial service to the Lord… it here bespeaks of altars of personal consecrations to God which chosen men and women will be called to make in dedicating their lives to serve the interests of God for their nation in their generation. A pillar, is a monument of memorial…a reminder …a pillar at the border therefore, symbolizes a special and delineating purpose, calling the Creator to mind with regards to His grand purpose for the nation…
for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them… Amen!!!
What great news!!!…God will surely answer our cries, the auguries of satanic doomsayers for the supposedly foreseen breakup of the nation will never materialize…it is not in our portion. For God Almighty has a great design for us collectively as a nation from the foundation of the world.
God is watching to bring his purpose to pass. He has set in motion the machinery for restoration and reformation, transformation and renewal. God has raised up anointed men and women who will act in total obedience to his will and save the nation from decay…
Nigeria will fulfill her prophetic destiny to the Glory of God…because it is so written, established forever. Amen.
And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the LORD, and perform it.
Yea! What a glorious picture! A complete turnaround of national fortune for the better. What can be more glorious than a spiritually revived, politically reformed, and economically resuscitated nation, rising to manifest the fullness of God and fulfilling a divine agenda in God’s scheme of things in this end time?
As the above verses show clearly, that will be our divine portion as a nation in the very near future when God’s anointed leaders take control of the affairs of the country.
Friends, this is for real and it will happen very soon! Very, very soon!
Amen! Come Lord Jesus.
